Default 1972 kawasaki f6

ok so now thew kaw is running great although when i ran the bike with the key in lights on mode all the lights burned out. its my understandind that this bike uses a 6vdc system but i have 13.5-14.7vdc from the rectifier.. the owners manual said that the voltage is to be around that but..... ths is without a battery. does the battery act as a buffer??

Yes, must have a good battery in the system, otherwise the charging output will pop all the lightbulb filiments.
