Default '06 Ninja 636 way too RICH

Hello all, and this is my first post on this forum.

I just purchased a new to me '06 636 with 8400 miles on the clock. The previous owner had installed a Jardine rt1 exhaust. I'm not terribly savvy but from my poor gas mileage (20mpg), my bike is running way too rich. The previous owner took it to a local shop in town and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. Yeah, ok. . . . .

I can tell the bike runs way too rich, because when I get off of it I smell like gas. Mainly the back of my shirt and pants do. I also could smell gas on my underwear when I took them off. There's another place in town I'm taking it too that can tune the bike without a PCIII.

Do you guys think there's something else wrong with the bike besides a map that is not right for the exhaust? The previous owner said the mpg was bad before the new exhaust and after, which makes no sense to me. I rode a '01 Bandit 600s before this and I could run it very hard and still get 32 mpg at least. I haven't even went over 9k rpms on this bike and I'm getting TERRIBLE gas mileage. When I filled up today, I went 72 miles on 3.5 gallons. That is very unacceptable. Any ideas from you guys would help.

Welcome to KF.
Sounds like it is a tune up time and some fine tuning on the dyno. Good luck
