Default 03 zx9r problems starting after warm

My bike always starts up easily when cold and usually even when warm but every once in a while I'll shut it off and soon after go to start it and it will only keep cranking over, if I wait about 10-20 mins it willthen start bak up. The bike always runs perfectly when started. It has 10k miles on it.

Welcome to KF

When was the last carb service? (Float height checks, carb cleaning, synchronization checks). Does the bike act like it is flooded when you do a back to back start up? Will a WOT (wide open throttle) work in this situation? Congrats on the mileage.

thank you! the carbs have not been serviced just regular oil changes air filter etc.... it will not start with wot and it doesnt act flooded. someone told me possibly cdi box and someone else said starter solenoid. bike always runs perfectly smooth is why i havent done anything to the carbs.. and i havent owned it for a long time.

I still am leaning towards a fuel supply issue or a plugged air filter.

wouldnt electrical make more sense tho since its not happening often and only after the bike is hot, and the weather is hotter out

That could be. What page in your manual is making you think this? Is this a vapor issue? Maybe because of poor venting and insulation? some unkowns again. Tossin' ideas out there. Electrical? ohm out the coils, plug wires. You could be onto something with staying with the basics.
