'03 636 is 'spitting'
Anytime i open the throttle up and power on, when my RPM's get between 8 grand and redline the engine intermittently sputters, cuts power, and the bike jerks back down, and then a split second later it picks right back up where left off and powers back on. It will do this a few times in that peak power range, first gear, or second. I assume it would do this in third as well, but I don't feel like getting a ticket to find out.
Keeping the power off, I can keep it in first and second all through redline and it won't jerk around, but the second I open the throttle it starts up again. I believe the fact that it only does it under power rules out the transmission skipping (I hope this is the case... I can't afford tranny work right now
). I'm thinking it might be gummy fuel injectors. Anyone agree with me, disagree with me, or have any more tests I can run to figure out what my bike is doing? If it is the injectors what could I do besides pay someone a boatload of money to clean them? Would a fuel additive made for cars be fine?
Thanks for the help guys!

when is the last time you changed the plugs or cleaned or serviced the air filter, also it wouldnt be a bad idea to run some fuel injector cleaner in the tank to see if it will clear the bugs out
Ryda, I've only had the bike a year... So I haven't changed air filter, or plugs yet... Looks like I get to get my hands a little dirty this weekend.
BigRig, I've never heard of berryman fuel cleaner... Anywhere in particular I should look for it?

yea i would change the plugs since you havent or dont no when the last time they were changed, also a good fuel injector cleaner is Lucas ive had good results with it and i use a bottle everytime i change my oil jus tkeep them injectors clean so they wont get gum up over time
So I've gone through a tank and a half of sea-foam, and a tank of shell FI cleaner... It is better than it was before... I got through redline in first gear and it didn't start acting up until about 14.5K in second gear. Then yesterday I took it out to the dealer to have new brake pads put on and I had a passenger. This time I shifted to second at about 14K and just a little after I hit second gear it started jerking around again and scared the crap out of my first time passenger...
So I don't know if it was the extra weight that screwed it up or the cold air, because the first time it did this I was riding in about 40* weather... Also, it has been too cold (and I've been too busy) to check out the air filter and the plugs... But once I get my bike back I'll get those replaced.
Now should I continue dumping in FI cleaner every refill? Or are they as clean as they are going to get after 2.5 tankfulls of cleaner? As much as I'd like to, there is no way I can afford to have anyone tear into my injectors right now
Also, now that I think about it, it does seem to be temperature dependent (at least a little bit). would the effects of a gummy fuel injector be more pronounced in 40ish degree air as opposed to 60-70ish degree air?
