i would replace both the chain & sprockets so you will know both of them was changed out at the same time, also a chain with miles on it will wear out a set of saprockets alot sooner that ive seen

(Now Helen; don't mind that rude Dragone.)
I must've missed the episode where Bobbito was smoking dope with his sneakers. That was on ESPN, you say?

yeah, so I have definatly determined its my chain and needs to be..replaced. just don't have the cash to do so right now.. tell me, since the chain is loose, and everyonce in a while (when it kicks) i'm guessing it is skipping a few teeth. I believe thats what I am feeling. would that make me use up more gas.. I've actually noticed my gas mileage has substantually gone down. I mean I rode it perfect for the past few days, and I usually can get 140 to 150 sometimes before my light turns on. This morning on my way in, it turned on at 120. I was like WTF!!!!!!

awsome, 768 is right^, if you just installed fresh sprockets and are running your old chain and it's "hopping" teeth, you'll be replacing the chain AND your sprockets (again) if you continue. I'd inspect the recently installed [last year] sprocket(s) for damage, and park the bike until you can do the job properly.
My 2 cents.

as mentioned park it. If your safety is that noticable, save up for a new set since that is cheaper than your life.
