Default Zzr 600?

What do you all know about the ZZR series? I'm looking at an 07 ZZR 600 for $4000. I will want to take it to the track a couple of times a year but that's it. Mostly will be used for recreational riding for me and/or my wifey.

Thoughts?

The ZZR600 is either a 2000 or 2001 ZX6. I think it's been de-tuned for more low end torque with the intention of making it a better real world bike. It would make for a great track bike or every day transport, and that's rare to find a bike that can do both of those things well. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ninja 650r, but I'd trade it for a ZZR600 in a heartbeat.

An '07 for $4,000, depending on mileage and history, sounds like a decent deal.

From the sounds of it, the zzr6 is a great all around bike.

I have a 2008 ZZR-600. It isn't de-tuned or anything. It's a 2002 ZX6R. The only difference is the higher clip-ons and a more comfortable seat. It really is the most comfortable sportbike I've ever been on. It's fast as hell and it handles like a dream. I ran a 11.875@118.9 at the drag strip, and it's totally stock. It is rather bulky and heavy though, when compared to the new 600s, but it hides its weight very well in corners. I've spent entire days on mine without regretting it the next day. It gets great gas mileage too. If you are looking at one, I would highly recommend buying it, provided cutting edge technology and having the fastest bike on the block isn't what you are looking for.

I forgot about that. It gets the same kind of mileage as my 650 parallel twin and it's an inline four. Also, I've heard that the insurance is much less expensive than a 600cc supersport because it's in the sport class not the supersport class.

my roommate has a 2006 zzr600 and he loves it. it handles great and if you feel the urge to make it a lil faster you could always put a jet kit in it and shim the needle to pump out a few more poneys. Parts are so easy to find for them too and at a really good cost.

Unless you crash it. Replacement plastics aren't cheap. I know first hand on that one.

Yes, I would jump all over that! If I had the money, I'd buy it. And welcome to the KFamily.
