Hey all,

I have building a couple of project dirtbikes, and so far i have good two rolling frames, but the previous owner doesn't know exact year and model they were.
All i know is that they are Kawasaki's. I have a serial number from the frame

KD080M-002798

Does anyone know what model & year it is?

How does one read that number?

Hey Matt,
Not really sure that the frame number will tell you anything. Best advice is to call a Kawi dealer and check it out with them.

ithink the 10th digit of the vin denotes the year, but theres a chart that accompanies it to decipher the code...

no secret decoder ring in my shop.. i make the stealership tell me what i'm workin with!!

but yeah.. i think its the 10th... i had a mystery bike come in for a top-end rebuild, and i had no idea what year it was... the vin according to the stealership made it an '84....

good thing cuz the bike was immaculate and led me to believe it was newer than that!
