I am looking to replace the rotors on my 04 636 with something a little more stylish but Im not sure exactly what all I need to know, I haven't replaced these before. From researching an online parts catalog I have found that my stock rotors are 248 mm (effective diameter) in the front and 184 mm in the rear (effective diameter). What exactly does this mean? So far I havent found a rotor for sale that is this size...what do I need to be looking for instead of the size listed online? Also, any good websites for rotors out there? Thanks everyone

 

Also, I put my bike up on my stands earlier and spun the front wheel. Is that typically a fairly noisy spin because of the brake pads always being in contact with the rotors during rotation? There is also a clicking noise from the front wheel that seems to make the tire slow down in its rotation too...and it does it in rhythm with the speed of the revolution of the front tire so it makes me think that the rotors could possibly be warped or bent? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

 

Generally speaking you will get noise from the pads rubbing on the rotor, the pads never really totally leave the rotor they always in contact unless the rotor is warped in which case the rotor will "kick" the pads clear and it takes more of a squeeze of the brake lever to slow down the wheel as the pads will have slack to take up before they contact the rotor.

The clicking noise may need looking at does your bike have a speedo cable? If so it may not be seated properly. It could be a bearing? If the rotors are warped you will get an uneven contact noise from the pads so if you spin the wheel you would hear the pads touch once a revolution.
