I have heard of 3 2006 customers having engine/electrical issues. Other than that, I have heard "rock solid" praises for the ex 500's.

 

I had a 05 Ninja 500. It was a great bike. No complaints. I would recommend not buying new because you'll probably want something faster pretty soon after you buy it, like I did. Its still a great way to start riding though. I bought mine brand new and swore to myself that I wouldn't need anything faster for years, but 7 months later I bought the Ninja 636.
