Last weekend I helped the owner of my local cycle salvage yard & his crew as they were clearing things out to close the business. In my area there used to be three such yards, & this last remaining one was forced to close by the city (Lancaster, Ca.). They did everything to force the owner to this decision as the geographic area the yard was located in is earmarked for redevelopment. Much of what the owner thought retained some value was kept & everything else went either to the dump or scrap metal yard, which is where the pictured 1977 KE250 was headed. Since the scrap value of 200 pounds of steel was worth $25.00, I had the option to take it for that. Although it is locked up, & encrusted with dried oil & dirt, the bike is relatively intact, & I could not see it going to it's maker just yet, so took it for the $25.00. Don't know what to do with it @ this point, so any thoughts from the Forum Membership would be welcome...

Thanks for your votes of confidence regarding the KE250. One thing I did was go to Feebay and see what parts might be available for this cycle. Usually there are around 300 +/- listings if you search under "Yamaha Enduro", but there were only a couple dozen (and many listings were redundant or from Ebay stores) under "Kawasaki KE250 or 250". Will I have to turn over a lot of rocks to find parts for this cycle, or likely have to buy NOS stuff @ NOS prices??? If I elect to resurrect this Kawa, I will have to break it down & evaluate everything as to condition & if it is salvageable. Such a strange machine in comparison to the Yammerhammers I am accustomed to...
