Help! Versys or 650R?
hi, i'm brand new to this forum so pardon me if i don't follow any protocol or am posting in the wrong section. Tomorrow i purchase my first bike and i've got the list narrowed to either an 08 versys or an 07 650R.
they're priced so similarly and i'm having a tough time distinguishing the differences. The specs are so neck and neck that i'm not sure which one is for me. Hopefully some of you can help?
let me tell you a bit about me and what i'll use the bike for and maybe we can go from there.
I'm an 18 yr old male and this bike will be my sole means of transportation for quite some time until i can afford to fix and maintain my jeep wrangler. i drive on the highway about 15 miles nearly everyday but i also do a substantial amount of city commuting. the roads here are sub par at best.. pot holes, debris etc etc. I'd consider myself a thrill seeker but i still try and maintain a margin of safety. I think at the moment i'm mostly concerned about getting some wheels under my me but i can see myself wanting to upgrade to more power in the future. I'll carry passengers frequently. Also, there's an abnormal amount of awful drivers around because of the high rate of senior citizens combined with just plain ol' ********.
i rode a 50cc scooter for 3 months and picked it up in about 20 minutes. i just took the MSF course and got the highest scores on both tests and my instructor said i was natural and i looked as though i'd been riding for years.
hope that's enough info.
thanks so much in advance for anyone who'll help me!!
