I've been eyeballin the TourMaster Sentinel with the heat shields built into the legs of the pants . Don't really plan on ridin in the wetstuff when I can help it but I got caught in a downpour couple weeks ago and thought maybe it's time to get something for the next time it happens .

Slow is definatly key to safe wet rideing, but I would also try not to downshift to stop either. I watched my budy go down last week doing that.
I never, ever engine brake. Engine's for goin', brakes are for stoppin'. It just helps keep me from doing it when I shouldn't.

I have the Nelson Rigg two-piece that is great -about $60.

i think the nelson is one i was looking at.

one of my requirements from a rain suit was stirup straps to keep the pant legs down. a lot of them didn't say so i stuck with ones that listed them. that and i saw a reciew in motorcycle mag about the teknics working well and being the cheapest you could buy

Yeah I looked at them as well but I like the Tourmaster with the built in heatshields , that will probably be the one I go with .

ah - hopefully non of them would melt - that'd be bad for the manufacturer. i was noticing the other day that my shins were getting extra hot. seems to be much more noticable with some clothing than others.
