Default Eliminator 125 engine swap to 250

I have a 2001 eliminator 125, i love the little bike but am ready for something a little bigger. I looked around for an eliminator 250 but couldnt find very many out there. I was looking into putting a 250 engine in it ( a friend of mine can tune the 250 engine to give me as much power as i need) Anyone know if it is possible to put at 250 engine in a 125, if so what needs to be done?

It would cost more to do the conversion than to go buy a new Rebel 250 or a VStar 250.

You may want to consider a Vulcan 500 or Honda VLX600 if you feel confident enough in your riding skills. They have good seat height and controlable power and are plenty of motorcycle for all sorts of riding. Both can be had for reasonable money in the used market. Sell or trade the 125.

It sounds like a good project, and can be cost effective if you can find the motor on the cheap, do all the work yourself, and dont hit any big snaggs (Dont worry, you will have hundreds of small ones)

Like KLX said, if your ready to step up, your probably better off stepping to a new ride. If you can manage 2 bikes I'd keep the EL125 and get a Ninja 250, then you have 2 fun bikes and have a choice when you wake up in the morning.

Good luck with the decision, and welcome to KF! Now lets get some pics of that ride.

moved.

As mentioned, stay with the cheaper options and buy a used ride that will fit your needs. If you have "outgrown the EL125", then trade up. Good luck and Welcome to KF. The 250's are still holding onto their price tags. So be prepared in your shopping.
