I found out that not only does a helmet protect your head in a crash (no, I didn't crash). But also from bird strikes. A birdsmaller thansparrowgot slammed into my helmet while I doing 50mph. I didn't even see the danm thing till the last second.All I got was a few feathers and loud smack that scared theheck out of me. If the bird had hit 2 more inches to my right, it would have hit my googles in the left eye.

It's amazing how a bird can so easily find it's way right into the side of a person's head! Glad you're ok.

 

Ouch, liviong in the country I have all sorts of critter problem. Like squirrels not knowing which way to run on the road, ground hogs, always salute them! and those damn deer! Not to mention low flying birds. Bet that made a lound Doink! Good thing you stayed on the rode!...[sm=outcold.gif]

 

lol a poof of feathers. my uncle hit a buzzard at 65 on his harley. lol i was right behind him. dam thing hauled *** into a fence afterwards.

I'm more grateful that it was a small bird and not something bigger. Plus to keep my left eye, I don't know Scott googles are rated for bird strikes.

Every since I started riding the KLX, I have been muchmore alert. Its not the first time somethingof that close of call has happened, nor do I expect itto be the last. Better a bird than a dog or a deer.
