2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250 - Overheat Light

Hey Guys,

This bike got over 1,700 miles, when I first got it I noticed the temp light went off whenever I warm up the bike or drive at low speeds in the city with too much traffic, but today something different has happened since the weather is now in the 70s, I start hearing water boiling, steam came out then coolant water started leaking from the tube at the bottom of the bike, I've been told this shouldn't happen. Coolant level is perfect, but I never heard the fan working period!!! at first I thought temp light on is normal when I'm in the city ( I'm a new rider) but after reading owner's manual I noticed this shouldn't happen unless there is something wrong, please let me know what do you think?

There is definitely something wrong.

Check the fan and switch. The temperature switch will screw into the radiator somewhere. Bridge it with a piece of wire to see if the rest of the circuit works. If the fan comes on, you probably need a new thermo-switch. If not then you'll need to test the fan directly.

With only 1700 miles on it, take it back to the dealer for warranty. Something is wrong for this to happen.

I took it to the dealer and guess what:

1. Due to the leakage the reservoir was empty and radiator was very low in coolant :(.
2. Fan fuse was popped out :(, warmer weather has made this issue more noticeable water boiling, steam, and leakage (overflow). The thing I'm trying to understand is why the fuse popped out????
3. Fan works fine .

popped out due to vibration? Glad that you got the ride fixed.

That's what I'm trying to figure out, why the fan fuse popped out :(

Do you mean "popped out" as in it's ok but it came out of it's holder or "popped out" as in the fuse blew?

Safwan 04-03-2013 02:35 PM

came out

Possibly wasn't in there properly to begin with if that's the case.
