2002 ZZR1200 Clutch Issues
Hi guys, just got here tonight. My dad passed away last week and wanted me to take his bike and get it sorted. He had the tank and carbs off to clean them because it was misfiring on cylinder 1 after sitting for a year or so. I went ahead and did a full cleaning and rebuild on all 4 carbs, and balanced them. It runs perfect. Took it for a test ride around the block and it pulled fine for the first few blocks, then the clutch started slipping BAD. Oil was 3 years old with less than 100 miles on it. I went ahead and changed the oil, then noticed the clutch reservoir was almost empty. No signs of a leak anywhere though which is odd unless it's able to push fluid into the oil?? I flushed the system with DOT4 several times, and took it for a ride - and it was flawless for about 15 miles then started slipping again.
The clutch was replaced in 2019 and also only has about 100 miles on it. It's the EBC SRK Race/Sport Series kit which included springs. Since the flush and refill let the clutch work for 15 miles I'm wondering if the slave cylinder is sticking or something. It sat for a year, was ridden 50 miles then sat for another year. Doesn't seem like the slave cylinder is available from the dealer so not sure if I should rebuild it with one of the kits I'm seeing online or buy a used one from eBay.
Any ideas?
