For 200 points: What model is this bike?
Hey guys. what’s up.
I am new and probably posting in the wrong section already, so please don’t be pissed. Stupidity comes naturally so try to be patient.
I am about to buy a 2001 Ninja 750. Is it a ZX7 or what?
I am gonna pay $800 (friend of a friend who needs money bad) and its never been laid down. It’s in perfect shape.
What’s the bike worth and is it to big to start out with? I’m 5’7" 128lbs. I just don’t think that nada and kbb are that accurate. I am not getting the bike to go fast, just for MPG.
What do I need to know about these bikes?
Thanks, Sam

800 buks for any 2001 thats in perfect shape sounds fishy to me have some1 who knows bout bikes check it out. that is also not the usual bike people pick to just tool around on for mpg that bike is gonna want to go fast so be careful any bike can b ridden slow if the rider wants but some bikes are just beggin you to drive them fast and i think a xz7 is one of them

with kbb estimating 4950 retail and 3500 wholesale even if they are not that accurate 800 buks is a big discrepancy either he needs money REALLY bad or the bike needs work make sure you do your due diligence so not to get robbed

Make sure he has the Blue title to the bike. Make sure its not salvaged. Sounds fushy to me. 800 bucks for a 4k dollar bike, somethings up. If it sounds too good to be true..................It probably is!!

RE: For 200 points: What model is this bike?
Thanks for the replies. I am only looking at the ZX7 because it is cheap. I really want a new 250 but I just can’t convince myself to spend that much. My friend bought this bike from his friend (who needed cash bad and fast, legal trouble I think) for about 800 and it does have a clean title. He is just breaking even with it and knows I have been looking for one. I honestly want a smaller one for insurance sake and I am gonna be a new rider. So if I got it could I get enough out of it to get a new 250, or hell even trade for one?
Thanks, Sam

I started on an old 7, I picked an old one just in case I dropped it, and I did. If you get it be careful with it, they can be a lot to handle, 800 sounds incredible for that bike, go over it with a fine tooth comb and pick it up, as for reselling that could be a bit of a hassle and the paperwork can be expensive as well, but the cash you get for it should cover both. If you want something for MPG you probly want something smaller than the 7, mine gets 40 MPG, much better than my suburban, but compared to a 500 or 250 its a gas guzzler, and due to the nature of the beast I've noticed that (to a point) it gets better milage when its run hard. Good luck, let us know what you decide. And Welcome to KF!

dude, all i can say is go for it......
thats a killer deal, take it and test drive it, if it runs decent and has a clean title pull a nike and just do it
and yes, im sure you can get enough $ out of reselling that for a new 250/500.
and as far as paperwork goes, as long as you have a set of keys and a title youre 100% qualified to sell it to some retard on craigslist
