RE: Shift Havoc Pants???!!!
Sorry, don't own them.
I do have a pair of these: http://www.newenough.com/protective_...cle_pants.html
The good thing is that they are padded, but I don't think they would be too durable if you went for a slide while wearing them. On the other hand, Im still gonna be more protected than all the D-bags riding around in shorts, flip-flops, and a wife beater.

RE: Shift Havoc Pants???!!!
you could also consider the icon field armor legs - you can wear them under almost any pants - i have them and they are comfortable and i can wear em under my work slacks

I have seen those field armor legs before.....look pretty good....
I have a heavy Shift jacket...looking at the Icon Pursuit leather jacket for the heat...and some kind of hybrid pants...

I have the Icon field armor legs. They are great. easy on easy off. I wear them every day for over the past year. The only down side is there is no protection above your knees, from the knee down they are perfect along with boots. definitely recommend. whats nice about these is they are strapped directly to the places that you need them the most. in an event of a crash you don't have to worry about them shifting and exposing crucial areas.
I too am looking for a nice textile over paints that may have some upper leg/hip protection.

Just now got a chance to report!!!!
Shift Havoc pants- Recommend!
Fit tru to size! 34 waist purchased- fit exactly
I am 5'9" ....w boots 5'10"-11" ....length is perfect
when I stand the kneepads "seem too low" but seated ..they are where they should be-so they do move- but not while riding- in a crash? guess it depends on what your legs end up doing..but I feel better knowing they are there...
they fit like jeans-but not overly baggy-
perfect mix of leather and codura- leather on hips..butt...and from knee down.
COMFORTABLE! accordion material right above knee...
good pockets...and not placed on upper leg where they can look like they widen your hips like a curvy woman's.. (no offense to the curvy ladies)-your curves are fine..
as you can see- reflective piping...and very BREATHABLE!
They are not race pants- more touring...but not weirdly shaped and cheezy looking-
last note- they are really not overpants..you could wear jeans underneath but that would change the comfort level unless you have sticks for legs.....you either just wear your Superman underwear or go commando....
Ride..Ride..safe....
