Default Surface Scratches on Helmet

I basicly got ripped off. I bought a used Shoie helmet on Ebay and it has tons of surface scratches on it. Like someone tried cleaning it with the ruff side of a sponge. I am hopeing some one can suggest a polish or maybe buffing compund that can get these scratches out.

I've heard of useing a clay bar on cars, I wouder if that would work?

If the helmet is glossy, you can lightly wet sand and buff the scratches out, I would first just try some meguiars scratch remover by hand first .. clay bar will not work for scratches because they are made to remove road grime like tar, paint, bugs and overspray.. If those options fail, take it to a body shop or any paint shop and just have them re-clear the helmet, prob only cost you $40-50.

I dout that's what happened, butthat's exactlywhat it looks like someone did a wet sand and went a little too deep. I'll have to try the Maguiars, and go from there. Thanks.

The Maguairs worked great on the very fine surface stuff. There are still alot of scratchesbut they are not as noticable. I'm going to try something a little more abrasive, like a compound, in a small area and see if it works any better.

I know, but I had the scarifice. The helmet, in the color I wanted was discontinued. Plus a couple of sprays of Lysol will kill almost anything.
