Default RE: Should I buy a Concours

I just talked to my dealer yesterday (he nailed me with the 08 two months ago), he said they will receive the form necessary to order the 14 next week. I would assume the specs for the bike will finally come with it. I just hit 11,500 on my paid for 05 Connie, and now he hits me with the 08! What a conundrum...

First off let me say that the Concours has been my dream bikefor the last 2 years. I am 5'1" and obviously that will never happen, so.....................................You make me sick(just kidding). I love the Concours and I think it would be a great bike, if only I were taller....................(sigh). I really like the new ones a lot. Like someone else said, they haven't changed in years, so that's gotta stand for something. Good luck with your choice and post up a lot so I can drool. Maybe I can be taller in my dreams, yeah, well, I'm going to sleep and ride my Concours..........zzzzzzzzzz

Toad! Make a 500 into a STL, sport tour lite! Springs and emulators in the front. Some risers, heavy bar end with throttle lock. Touring windshield with Laminar lip. Corbin seat.Custom rear shock, ride height adj and remote preload. Hepco andBecker side and top rack for your choice of hard cases. You get lower insurance, still maintain the ability to collect speeding tickets and outstanding mileage. Did I mention it'll run Gerbing gloves as well? The new Connie gets aprox 26 to 30 mpg according to motorcycle.com. Take 1/2 of an old Connie and make it yours!

i rode a 99 concours on an all day ride in central ill a month ago. ive never ridden anything other than a sportbike so it was fairly easy learning how it handled. as said before it got very hot behind the windscreen, i felt uncomfortable taking turns, the seat was extremely uncomfortable i kept sliding up on the tank. otherwise the acceleration and midrange power was pretty good. id never buy one or ride one again for that matter. decent bike im sure theres better out there.

Springs $60-90. Emulators $160. Risers $70.00. Heavy Bar end Throttle locks $100.00 Touring Shield < $100, Laminar Lip < $100.00 Corbin seat what aprox $300.00 Custom Shock $300-$900 Racks about 250. Journey bags about 500. Yeah it's not cheap. The bike is cheap. The insurance is cheap. The mileage can be fantastic. You don't have to do it all at once.

I've got most of it done.
