1986 LTD 454 doesn't start
I disconnected the battery, since wasn't riding for a month and when i connected it again it just doesn't start. Battery is fine - I checked it.
When I press the start button nothing happens. I can hear a click but starter doesn't turn. If I short the solenoid large terminals, the starter turns. I changed the solenoid but the behaviour didn't change.
I found 4 fuses, all are good.
I removed the stand safety and bypassed the clutch safety.
I checked the start button and the kill switch - both are fine.
I tried testing voltage between different pieces. The Y/R wire between the start button and the igniter is fine, between the igniter and the solenoid is fine. Also tested a bunch of other connections - all looks good.
Just for completeness, I want to mention that I wasn't riding for a month because I lost a radiator thermal switch and was waiting for a replacement. But the new one didn't fit, so I just patched the hole temporarily. I don't consider this as a related issue to the starting problem. Please let me know if it can be the problem.
I am out of ideas. If you have any please share.
