oh i know exactly where the box with fins is. Get me the part on the bike i can replace it wtih no problem. Im bringing it on on mnday cuz its my day off and the shop is gonna look at it for me see what the problem is with it. HOpefully i get by cheap.

well i took the bike into the shop on tuesday around noon. All i wanted was them to see wtf is wrong with it. And they wuold call me with an estimate, well no call yet. im gonna call them around 3 today. hopefully they will have an answer for me then

where i live there are only 2 maybe 3 bike shops

Get a shop manual.
You can test the CDI units yourself.
There should be a whole page or two on this procedure.
For the record, I have hung around alot of bike shops, and it seems to me the number one problem afflicting all bikes from harelys to my gpz900 were charging problems.
Sounds to me like you should be checking ignition wires, since your tach quit.

Hope you get it fixed soon.
