I JUST finished painting all the parts. They have to harden up for a day before I can wetsand with 1000, add decals and a final clearcoat. I did it at home in my back yard.

ok now I destroyed the clearcoat with some 1000 to get rid of some orange peel that I had, and added the decals. The final clear will probably be tomorrow, over the decals. Also the seat cover was installed today as well.

To finish and fire it up it needs:
-all clearcoating done and hardened up
-tach and speedo cables installed
-oil lines attached to pump and carbs
-throttle put back together
-add crankcase oil, and injector oil
-install rebuilt petcock and gas
-top off battery and kick over

today was an absolute disaster! I came home from work and got ready to shoot the final clear over the decals and my freshly sanded layers of clear. I set up everything, mixed up the clear and headed out with a loaded paint gun. The gun began spitting out blobs that looked like bits of clear tape. I have no idea what it was, but anyway now I have to let that all dry up and sand again and attempt the clear again. Tomorrow.

so I got fed up with the painting and proceeded to attach all my oil lines and throttle linkage.

It has been exactly 90 days since I first picked it up. Now I just need to install the chain, chain guard, fuel lines, speedo cable, bar end mirrors and it will be ready to crank over. I am going to have to re-do the tank and decals all over because of clearcoat issues. It's all messed up. I'm just going to ride it that way for a while - the decals are 60 bucks and the paint will be about the same.

I rode it today! It didnt want to start at first - it was popping and kicking back. I had 2 coil wires crossed- so once I got that swapped it started right up. I've got a couple of oil leaks, carb adjustments to do and it's spewing 2-stroke goop from the exhaust adapters. So a lot of fixing to do.

ok I'm in - I went over there and accepted it. This is cool. So what do I do next? anything or just sit back and watch.? I am away from home right now in Tucson and I cant do anything on the bike. It's killing me- oh well, when I get back I have a big list of stuff to do. I have to set the idle, with the new carb cap gaskets the slides were up too high and it was idling at like 4K. I dont think I made any friends with my neighbors that day. At least I am running the smokeless 2 stroke oil and there were no giant cloud formations drifting down my street, like when I had my RD and I ran castor. The castor smelled great but it was too smoky and gummy. Castrol TTS seems to be working well right now.

Big thanks to John Lutz at Mid-Atlantic Cycle Emporium for all the parts and answering all my questions.
