I have a 2001 vulcan 800. Does anyone know how I can get the seat off? The only fastener I can see is a threaded stud coming up out of the rear fender. I removed that and I can't get any further.

Welcome to KF! I am not up on the Vulcan models though.

 

With the screw out, give the seat a quick, firm rearward jab with the palm of your hand right behind where the driver sits (it hooks onto to a horizontal bar under there), and it will unhook and pop off rearwards.
