Default noise in the rear of a vulcan 900

I've noticed a noise in the rear of my 2009 vulcan 900 custom. It sounds like a rubbing of some sort. Does anyone else have this problem, and is it common?

Not sure what it could be. I believe it has a belt. A friend of mine has a 2007 900 classic and he said his makes the same noise. If I get a chance to stop back by the shop I will ask them and then post it for anyone else who may have the same problem.

Default noise in rear of 900

You have a belt drive. i have an '09 custom also and from 600 mile on to my present 8k the belt has been vibrating, rubbing, driving me crazy. it does it with out fail at 21 mph. the dealer is deaf, cant hear it and when they did they said ,that it was normal. when i suggested that they then sold me a faulty bike cause it didn't do it when it was new, they werent amused. i read on another kaw forum that if you rub parafin wax on the belt it would solve the problem so this morning before i took it to the honda dealer to trade it in, i tried that with a candle. it took away about 95% of the noise. that has been the major gripe i have had with the bike. even when they put a new rear tire on it it didn't go away. so try the candle wax jack the bike so that the rear wheel is free to spin and just keep rubbing it on. time will tell if this is the answer. give me a shaft drive anytime.
