Unhappy Idle but dies when in gear and clutch is released.

I have a 95 Vulcan. I had a leak somewhere and gas got in the air filter. I replaced the air filter and burned off the gas that had collected in the exhaust. After some work, I can get her idling but as soon as I put it in gear and release the clutch to go, it dies. What step to I need to take next? Please help!!!

Check your side stand switch. That exactly the behaviour that it's supposed to cause.

indeed, place a jumper on the two leads while disconnected from the side stand switch. (keeping the contacts away from metal) Welcome to KF

Thanks a lot guys! I unplugged the switch but it didn't work. But then I sprayed some WD 40 on the switch and plugged it back in and it worked great. Thanks again!

I unplugged the switch but it didn't work.
because you would have an open circuit.

Congrats on the fix on the bad connector.
