Default 99 Vulcan, I need to rebuild the carb, or find a replacement

Anyone got a good source for replacement carbs or rebuild kits?

FWIW in most cases with motorcycles you just tear the carb down, clean it and buy whatever O-rings or gaskets that might be needed. Sometimes if the carbs have just clogged up with old dried out gas residue no parts are even needed. But if you clean the carb I recommend you try to get it cleaned in a carb washer or ultrasonic cleaner to get the cleaning liquid into all the small convoluted passages of the carburetor. I've done carbs for myself a number of times and in all but one case (a 40 year old MB5) I didn't change any parts except to put richer jets in one bike (KLX250). A good source for schematics and parts numbers would be Partzilla click here

I don't know about the Vulcan, but my KLXs and Zephyr had neoprene O-rings that were totally reusable. That's why I post the comment. You really don't need to replace the O-rings unless you see damage.

I hope all goes well with the rebuild, maybe a bit of crud in the float needle sticking it open.

Was a visible worn ring around the rubber part of the float needle, bought it knowing it had to have fuel shut off, I was forced to clean carb once 2 years ago cause she died on a trip and didn’t have any parts so it got cleaned and put back on

last year I did a new clutch, cable, new bars, chain and sprockets and rebuilt the vacuum fuel petcock, that might be my problem, she will run for 5 mins and die like the bowl emptied and isn’t filling

Go to partsfish.com they carry all Kawasaki oem parts and kits. Also, I found online either amazon or ebay our carb for as little as $149. I dont know who makes it but I bet its the same one you have now and I think it comes from china. Just search either site with the carb stock number, I think its cv something.
