Default Vulcan 750

I recently learned to ride on a Harley sportster 883 and got on really well. My husband has recently found a 1994 (I think) 750 Vulcan that he wants to buy me. As a novice and a woman I don't want anything that feels heavy and I've heard that this bike has suspension which is too soft and it's underpowered - I'd really like some feedback on what the bike is like before he buys it (also £1,500 sounds a lot for a 13 year old bike). Thanks!

I am in the same spot as yourself, ie considering the Vulcan 750. I have been riding since 1964 and have owned three Kawis. The 750 is designed for smaller riders and is therefore a good fit for most women. I am 5'7" and it fits me well. My purpose for buying this bike is hyway transportation. I have a ZX 14 for filling my need for speed but it is not a bike for racking up miles on and my wifehates it.The 750 is no weak sister (one of the fastest in its class), but few v twins are speed merchants. That said I think you will find itwill easilykeep pace with the HDsportster and will shake a lot less at 70 mph. The suspension is adjustable and not harsh.. There is no better middle weight twin on the maket in my opinion. FWIW the one I am closing a deal on is from a dealer. It 's a "pristine" 06 with 1,400 miles on it. I am trading in my wifes "06" ninja 250 and paying an additional $3,200.

I know this is an older post but for the record, I'm over 6 foot @ 250#. My 750 had no problem getting me where I wanted to go.
