Default Overheating engine

In the past week, the engine on my 2002 750 seems to be giving off excessive heat. Both my legs are getting uncomfortable hot after riding for a very short period. Not so much of a problem on the highway where the wind apparently carries away the heat. However, around town it is very noticeable.

All fluids are fine and the engine temperature gauge doesn't indicate any problem. I've checked for loose exhaust fitting, but nothing is obvious.

Anyone have a similar experience or suggestions?
