Default 2000 Vulcan 750 - No gas

I am having a problem starting my bike this spring. Last fall, I closed the pepcock and ran it dry before putting it away for the winter. This seems to have been a problem in that now I don't seem to have any gas flow. I don't have a maintenance manual and am not sure exactly where the clog may be. I did have a similar problem with a generator and it turned out to be varnish buildup in the gas filter. Does the 750 have a fuel filter and where is it? Should fuel flow from the bottom port on the gas tank pepcock? I have three hoses coming from the pepcock. I did remove the lower hose, but no fuel flows at all in any pepcock position. The bike starts easily if I put a little gas in the carburetor, but it stops running as soon as the gas is gone. I did pull a spark plug and it was completely dry after a number of minutes of cranking. I figure my mistake was letting the fuel system sit dry for the winter. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Bob.

I figured it out. There was a clog in the Pepcock. I removed the gas tank and removed the Pepcock. I then used compressed air to blow backwards through the Pepcock to clear the clog. I had to do it once for the regular fuel setting and once for reserve. The best solution was probably to replace the part, but the local dealership did not have one in stock and I didn't want to wait the week for one to come in. I hope this helps someone else out there.
