Default Idiot Lights

My front brake is faster than my right foot; I laid my 2006 500 Vulcan over on the foot peg from a dead stop. I hit the kill switch and picked her up. No damage, but my idiot lights stay on. The bike is not hot and has plenty of oil and runs fine. Anyone have this happen to them and how do I reset the lights. I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, but no help. - donutdad

Hey - the same thing happened with my 2002 500ltd. I thought it would be a good bonding experience for my normally non-communicative 16 yr old if I let him try to ride the bike from the shed to the driveway...about 120'. After a very fast 30' he jumped of the bike. LOL!!!

Anyhow, after several start-ups the lights went out and are now working normally. I just figured the idiot lights were working correctly when the idiot let his 16 yr old ride the bike!!!

I had a similar problem. The bike does NOT have an oil PRESSURE light, there is a little oil level switch arm, instead. It should correct itself. When the bike fell over, the arm hit the contact and lit the light, basically. Harry

I know I'm replying to an old post but I'm having the same problem but I didn't lay my bike down. I may have been low on oil at the time it started. How much time went by before the lights went out? I haven't ridden mine since the lights came on. Up until now I thought it was something in the engine. Now I am sure it's electrical.
