trade up ?
Have bought and enjoyed a new Suzuki C50 this summer with already 3,000 miles on it. It's my second bike and first in years. The more I ride the more I love it. Thinking of trading up to the Vulcan 1600 Classic or the Suzuki C90. I know the small tank issue with the Suz so aside from that any thoughts or experience with either of these bikes is welcome. Thanks

I have a 2006 C50T that I love also, but it is becoming time to move up as well. I'm considering the 07 Nomad 1600 as I just LOVE the looks of the duals and hardbags. But, I've heard it's a bit of a slug compared to bikes in its class. The other bike I'm considering is the 07 Yamaha Road Star midnight. A bit more power, belt drive, but carbureted (the 08 is FI). Don't like the harbags as much as I do the Kawi's, nor do I like the two pipes on one side versus the Kawi's duals, but... all that can change with $$$. Got a $2000 price difference in favor of the Yamaha though, so....??? what to do... what to do....

I guess the big question is "What are you wanting a bike for?" If you want the fastest road blaster out there then don't consider the Nomad 1600. Don't consider any bike on the touring end of the cruiser/tourerspectrum for that matter. It isn't the ideal bike for zipping down to the local grocery for a gallon of milk either, although I have done that. I'll take darned near any excuse for a ride, even a short one. On theother hand, if you want tosaddle up and ride for a hundred miles or so,get off for a body break, and be ready todo another hundred, then this just might be the bike for you. I'm not saying that it is limited to touring butit's sure moresuited for that than rat racing between stoplights. She's a big brute, more suited to the open road than a parking lot.

JT,
The small tank size on the C90 is an issue. Have you checked out the new Suz C109RT. has a 5 gallon tank (vs. 3.9 for the C90), and it's in the same niche with the Nomad, et al. http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products...s/Default.aspx Saddlebags look proportionately whimpy/small, but those can be replaced with a lil' $$$. I still think the Nomad is the best bang-for-buck touring cruiser in the niche at $12K and change. However, if the $15K pricetag of the Suz C109RT is within your budget, I'd also then direct you to the Kawi 2000LT. Now THERE'S a brute! [:@] http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Detail.aspx?id=281
