Question Power Commander

I just purchased Vance & Hines Big Shots pipes for my '04 Mean Streak 1600, first the dealer I'm dealing with told me I didn't need a power commander, but after they had my bike & 90% of the money up front then they tell me I need it & the cost was gonna be another $250. So I went ahead with it. The bike is popping badly when I clutch or let off throttle. I brought it back 2 hours later. A friend of mine has a 1600 Vulcan same pipes but no power commander. Any ideas?

They probably have the wrong map loaded on the PC, should be a simple fix and I wouldnt pay for the return trip if I were you. They should have done it right the first time. $250 installed doesnt sound bad at all, I would have expected more. You could probably get away with not having the PC depending on the pipes but its always best since you are changing the airflow. Doesnt sound like you got totally screwed but they certainly should have done a better job, especially with the upfront pricing.

Welcome to KF!

That is where the dealer most likely obtained the existing map from. Or it needs refreshed with the newer download from their site. Not sure. But the dealer is still responsible for a satisfied customer.

Good luck with the mods and let us know.

Call Dyno Jet Tech support, and tell them your problem. They can send you a PC5 map or convert a PC5 map to use in a PC6 if that's what you have. Dealer mechanics are not experienced in that field. Always deal with Dyno Jet Tech if you have issues. Hope this helps
