I have a Mean Streak Special Edition.

The manual states that I should get the weight off of the back wheel before trying to put air in the rear shocks. The dealer says don't bother - just stand it up straight and add air.

I would like to follow the manual's recommendations. The only jack that I have that will fit under the bike is a low profile hydraulic jack I use on my lowered Mustang. This has the usual round lifting plate that I plan on covering with some rubber mat to avoid scratching the bike. My question is - "can I jack up the bike under the engine? Or do I need to create something that will lift on the sides of the frame to avoid putting any pressure on the engine as I jack the bike up?"

I am also very interested to hear how other people deall with their air shocks. I have a good air shock pump - Progressive Suspension GP3 Guage Pump.
