Default Drivers Backrest for a 2006 Vulcan Nomad

I recently bought a new 2006 Vulcan 1600 Nomad. I love this machine. My question is where do I get a drivers backrest for it. The one the dealer shows is for the 1500 and my passengers backrest and brackets look totally different. I have checked ebay and have searched the internet with no help. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I have a 2005 Nomad and I just bought one from http://www.utpr.com/nomad1600.html . I should be getting it this week. I have friends that have this backrest on thier bikes and love it. Price is reasonable. I ordered mine with studs because I studded my seats. Hope this helps.

BlackNomad, thanks for your help. That isa terrific site. I am going to order one right away and if I like it I am going to get one for my wife's vulcan 900. The install looks pretty simple to me. I will let you know how mine works out.

gcmnsu,
You are welcome. It is nice to get info on parts from people that have them on the same bike you have.
I took both driver and passenger seats apart on my Nomad to put studs on and it was no big deal.
The backrest install looks simple to me also.
Cheers,
Jim

gcmnsu,
I received the backrest today. Took me about 1hour 10 minutes to install including running from house to garage about three times. Was quit easy to do. Looks great on bike too!
Good luck with yours,
Jim

Jim,
Thats great news. I ordered mine today and it showed July 14 as a delivery date. Do you have any pics of the finished product. I also noticed on the order form you can buy a Quick-Out Option. Do you know anything about that. Is it a quick release so you can take the backrest off. Is your on permanent? I am going to call them tomorrow and ask.
Gary.

By the way my email is gcmnsu@hotmail.com

I was also looking for a backrest for an 07 1600 Nomad. I saw one on Ebay from a seller names Axe63. It's half the price of the one from Utopia. The only concern is that some buyers (7 out of nearly 700) complained about the bottom being stapled when they think it should have a zipper. Does anyone else have this backrest? Blacknomad and GCMNSU are you still happy with the one from Utopia?

Sawbuck,
I love my backrest and I have not had any problems with it. You do have to re-staple the leather back on but no big deal. I looked at your link to Ebay and the backrest there looks different than mine. My backrest came with a pouch on the back to put some things in. The one on Ebay does not have the pouch. Not that the pouch is necessary but it does come in handy for my cell phone and wallet while I am riding. Anyway I am very happy with my backrest and the install was very easy. Would not want to do without it. Good luck.
