new pipes, 2 questions
Hello all, this is my first post to the forum.
My bike is a 2000 Vulcan 1500 Classic FI. I bought a set of pipes off of ebay with no name, but they're a nice set of slash cuts. The bike seems to be running great, good response smooth idle, but these is a little popping on the downshifts, and you can see blue flames up the pipes from behind. Is it running lean, and if so is there any other way to map the system without buying a power commander for $300?
Also, does anyone know if theres a company that makes some kind of plugs for the obscene holes left in the frame where the goat belly was connected?
Peace

Welcome.
I really don't know how the Vulcan Fi system works, or what it's like. But if there are some recirculating Air tubes that go to the engine from the air box for emission purposes, that may be causing the popping noises. (Like I said, I really don't have any experience with V-twin Fi)
Try posting your question in general tech, or the cruiser section. You may get more/better answers. The DIY section is for showing people how to do things.

The tubes I'm talking about would be from the air box to the top of the valve cover(s). I believe this pic would show the two tubes coming off the air valve. I have heard that if blocked, the exhaust crackle will dramatically be reduced on aftermarket pipes.

I hope we can get a second opinion on this though. I can't guarantee this to be correct.
