Default Louder Stock Exhaust

Has anyone tried to drive a bar through the stock exhaust to geta louder sound from this bike? I have heard of this before on other bikes, and if so do you have to rejet the carbs?

I have seen guys do it and they didn't rejet.
Not that big of difference in noise though.
If you want it to sound nice, you need pipes !

Your cat. is not used if you put the after market pipes on.
I took my cat apart and cut out the guts in it and the bike didn't sound right at all.
Didn't run right either.
What year Vulcan did you say you have?
I have a set of pipes off a 1996 1500 that I'm selling.
They are V&H and they are about a year old.

G'day,

I bought my Nomad with the pipes already done. They were drilled out and replacement large bore baffles put back in. They look completely stock but the sound is 100% better.A deep throaty grumble like a V8 on roids and doesn't bark like some aftermarket pipes. I looked into it and the job was actually more expensive than almost all aftermarket pipes available $AUS2500 (I'm glad it was already done!). The catalytic converter had been removed (if there was one - some of the '99 model Nomads released in Australia didn't have them.

I was riding through a petrol station once as this cager started to move off then stopped right in front of me. I gave a rap on the throttle and man all the ppl refeuling their cars nearly s**t themselves. [&:]It sounded like bl**dy loud thunder echoing under the main roof. The cager got out the way pretty quick.

Just to clarify I'm not the sort of person who goes around scaring / annoying ppl by revving the bike unnecessarily. That day took me by surprise as well. The biggest bonus with the pipes is the deep thoaty sound as you rumble away from the lights etc. It just sounds great.Apart from the cost factor it is the best sound I have heard from an aftermarket (pseudo) exhaust system. No rejetting done.
