Default leaking fluid from final drive boot

I have a vulcan 1500 2001, I got back from a 600 mile run and the next morning I had a puddle of fluid under my bike. I looked and it seemed to be coming from the boot of the final drive where it hooks to the engine. I talked to my local dealer and they said they thought it was the oil seal in the front of the final drive where it hooks to the engine. I replaced it and it didnt leak again for about a week. Now it is leaking but it is spuratical. sometimes it drips and sometimes it doesnt. I am considering replacing the seal again but am wondering if it may be something else. I am not a mechanic and have limited knowledge. Just looking for some help from somone who may know more. I was told by someone else it could be the seal for the gear fluid. I dont even know where that is on the bike. Just looking for suggestions. Thank You for your time. Rockuharder

First, determine if it is engine oil or gear lube. Gear lube has a distinct smell. If it's engine oil, then it's the seal you have just replaced. If it's gear lube, then it is a seal in the final drive.
