Welcome also. I have an 05 636 and it's awesome. Shinobi636 is right on, keep it under 8 grand and you'll be fine for starters. You'll have no idea how fast your going till you decide to stop so watch. Also don't get caught up watching the speedo all the time....that's what I keep doing duh. Just use your head and you'll be fine.........Dress for the slide, not the ride!

I have a friend that's new to riding, and I'm trying to convince her and her husband not to buy half helmets. Her husband thinksfull face helmetsare goofy looking, but I think it's more goofy to break your face on the concrete rather than just wearing a full face. I may have gotten through to them by showing pictures fromthe website, "live to ride, ride to die". It's hard to go out riding without gearing upafter seeing pics like the ones from that site.[]

[&:] I am a new rider and am very excited to get my first bike. I have a guestion though....What bike should I get. I have been looking at a new 06 zx6r that I can get for a really good price. However I am afraid that it is going to be too much of a bike for me. I have also been looking at the ninja 250r but I cant get over how ugly it is. I have also been looking at the Hyosung GT250R which is an awesome looking bike but I am worried about the reliability. I know that I would be happy with the 636 and would keep it for years and after sitting on all of them it is the most comfortable for me. HELP! I would apprciate any advice.

Thanks
Adam
the 250 is NOT ugly!!! I like it... ...stay away from the Hyosung...under powered and no aftermarket parts...they say the Suzuki parts will work on it but they won't!!! The 636 is an awesome bike...I use to own one... ...Go with the 250 or even the 500 and once you are comfortable move up...take an MSF course and gear up... Welcome to the forum!!!

You won't be happy with a 250 for more than a month or two at most. I bought a used Ninja 500R last September to start on and I've got no complaints. I've read of people on this forum who've boughtNinja 500Rsa second time around. The price is reasonable, even new, though I got what I think was a good deal onmine used with very low mileage and a littlecosmeticdamage to it. Stay away from a 250 is my advice. Good for the MSF course but that's about it.
