Default oversized tank

My 1st post. who makes the best tank. I plan on some mods, better carb, 351 kit. Is the Ims tank the only option?

What year bike do you have? The tank you buy might depend on that, there is a Clarke tank, ims, and acerbis. The acerbis tank will fit on all years with some slight modifications. I have it on my 2010 klx. The acerbis tank isn't an exact fit and there is a gap between the seat and tank, personally the amount of fuel it holds is worth the slight problems with fitment. I bought my gas tank on justgastanks.com. They have all 3 tanks.
You can either rejet the carb or replace it, along with the 351 kit, bill blue offers a mikuni tm33 bored out to 34, also many people have put on tm36-38. There will be some slight fitment issues if you go with the acerbis tank and the tm36-38. There are many threads on here documenting these mods. Along with the 351 kit, I would definitely add a skip on and maybe header pipe. I have a two brothers exhaust and it certainly helps. The two brothers is honestly too loud for me though, even with the quiet tip. If you're planning on riding on certain trails I would watch out. Loud pipes is a quick way to get trails closed.

I have a 2009. I have done a lot of reading on this forum. There is no clear favorite.

I have the IMS tank and like it. It's really nice having that extra gallon of gas. The installation can be tricky but with some patience you can get it to all come together.

The IMS tank on the '09 klx goes on without any problems. I was able to do it under an hour with a call to IMS about the wiring harness. Piece of cake

Although the Acerbis doesn't fit '09+ like a glove, it does offer more fuel than the others, provides good radiator protection, and it just looks cool. You can also get a locking cap (the others may have this too).
