Default Making the bike more wheelie-able

Hi klx250s efi 2009 with mcm intake only, free flow muffler , no shnorkel and a 13-42 gearing. (Also ejk)

No power wheelie and cluch up in 2nd requires much body lifting.

What gearing and changes have you done to increase the wheelie ability of the bike?

IMO the only real way to do it is to put in a BB351.

KLXster has a video of him doing power wheelies in second gear with some weight shifting so it's possible without it if you're near sea level and get your jetting set up right.

street legal 250cc 4-stroke's have never been great on the power department. increasing the displacement via a big bore or a different bike is pretty much the only way you're going to get the power needed to reliably wheelie in 2nd+ gear.

Oops, that was first gear in my video.. I made a conscious effort to NOT shift or yank - the cam was on the top of my helmet... I just now re-watched it @ .5 speed and 720p quality.. I didn't see any "cheating" but I guess that is subjective - Perhaps I'm seeing only what I want to see - damned Quantum Mechanics..

I did the vid so that anyone could replicate my posture, speed, and engine RPM prior to WOT snap..

See the vid below on my signature line.. Be sure to set the vid quality to 720 or better.

I could have sworn I read one of your posts that said you could do it in 2nd with some cheating - but still no clutch.

Well, you probably saw where my "07 KLX300R can now power wheelie in 1 and 2 but 3 requires a little tug at just the right time.. It's running a variation off my 250 dyno testing - DJ2206 kit, DJ146 main jet , lidless, uncorked stock exhaust...https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ain-jet-42939/

I don't remember trying 2nd gear wheelies with the 250.. I did get an unexpected 1 to 2 wheelie once while speed shifting at redline with the FMF system and one of my "FMF specific" carb setups.. I don't do redline speed shifting very often - it seems abusive - but it did happen once..

I could try to translate my posts to Pidgin French/Basque for you..

The EFI guys in here will have to help you with your quest for wheeliedom.. Perhaps you should get their attention with another thread titled something like "Power wheelies with EFI KLX ? " or some such,, but with EFI in the title..

Put a BBW on the back and give it some throttle, zoom zoom!

With all the mods in my signature, popping a wheelie is no easy task. For me anyway.
I managed to get the front wheel up in second gear once, no idea how I did it, never been able to do it since. I'll keep both wheels on the ground... For now

The best and most predictable way to get a wheelie up where you want it is to use the clutch. Don't think you're cheating by using the clutch. It is the best way.

Many years ago a buddy and I found that we could wheelie our Suzuki 2-stroke enduros more easily when we removed the gas tank and strapped a little plastic fuel bottle onto the top frame tube instead.

Unfortunately the fun was limited in duration.
