Default Frame guards and fender brace.

Anyone know of any companies that make either of these products for our bikes? Mines a 07.
I'm looking for aluminum frame guards not carbon fiber, but can't find any..

Looking for a front fender brace as well.
Thanks in advance

Don't know about fender braces, but I believe the guards are more about boots scraping paint off leaving bare metal to rust. A set could be easily fabricated out of some thin aluminum stock. Lay out a thin cereal box type cardboard template. Transfer the design to the aluminum. Cut out the guard. Then stick the guard on the frame with some thin foam double stick tape.

For me, it's about my boots catching on the little plate that holds the kickstand wiring in place. I've mangled that stupid plate.

I keep a tube and Irinse on my fender and it's just not stiff enough. Anyone know if any of the aftermarket ones are any better/stiffer? ?

Bend up some aluminum that shrouds the side stand wiring guides, then stick it on there.

I don't quite get sticking stuff on the front fender. Seems it's just more weight on the steering, which usually isn't desirable. I know people do it, but it seems it would make more sense to find a place on the back with a rack or make some kind of carrier for it below the battery or muffler area.

Not a terrible idea to make my own. Two sided tape isn't going to stick it, but a couple zip ties might help.

As far as the fenders, I almost always have stuff mounted to my rear rack and the front fender is simply a convenient location for my tire irons and tube. Looks like i have to make them both myself.

Default DIY Guards

I did as klx678 said, I used some scrap .080 aluminum and formed a small guard around that area where my boot would always rub off the paint. I added the black with Rust-oleum Leak Seal rubber paint for the grip surface. On the right side all I needed was a small guard around the rear master cylinder. As for the fender brace check out the thread. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...r-brace-43926/.

You are right that there is little to none after market for these for our bike, so I ended up just making it myself.

Cross posted to the linked site...

Roll the bends if possible, then sand edges round with fine sand paper. That will hopefully stop any stress risers that could cause cracking. I made a similar bracket for the rear license plate on my KLX650, the aluminum one cracked and almost lost the plate, a second one made of stainless failed as well. Vibration and the constant up down flex caused cracking and breakage at the bends. All it takes is a nick or scratch from cutting to start a crack. Fine finishing of the edges and rolling the bends rather than bending in a sharper radius will reduce the stress riser possibilities.

Another interesting possibility would be to get a scrap fender and double up the inside, but may not be bend resistant enough.

Default Very nice

Those look very good. And, quite simple. Might go on an aluminum hunt.
Thanks for the link

Look up a metal fabricator in your area. I use one that will usually charge me like $2 for several small pieces of scrap aluminum they cut off and toss in the recycling barrel. Sometimes they just give it to me.

I need to go see them again some time this summer to get some 1/4" stuff to make a bash plate. I doubt it will cost me over a couple bucks at the most. It comes from the recycling barrel area.
