Foot pegs
#31
My D2 Moto Pegs, that cost less than $20 have taken plenty of hard hits. They're fine. They're much winder and longer than stock. They're perfect for me.
I really don't think pegs are all that mission critical. It's not like an engine component where failure will lunch the motor and it's not like a valve buried deep inside a fork, where failure will require a costly and time consuming rebuild. There's just no reason to use a "higher quality" product that may or may not have less weakness then the cheap product.
If a peg were to fail drastically I could still get out of the woods, and replacement would take minutes instead of hours. Since I still have my stock pegs the bike could be rideable almost as soon as I got home.
I'd rather spend that money on almost anything else, you could get better bars, hand guards, or put money towards a BB kit. You could buy your wife flowers and earn more time out riding. For me this is where the smart money is!

Well...
Actually the information about the possible breakage related to a case where the rider got a severe gash on his calf when the casing broke...
So I think you are missing the real possible kind of breakage that cast metal can incur. A severe enough cut and you won't be coming out of the woods very easily needing a couple dozen stitches and losing blood. It ain't like a flat tire.
Of course if you wear MX boots odds are you likely would only gouge them.

so after months of waiting. I emailed IMS to inquire about the "BIGFOOT" pegs.
now keep in mind the Bigfoot pegs are cheaper than the rally pegs. they were going to make a 'limited' run of the 'bigfoot' pegs for the klx250s. that's what I was told! the bigfoot pegs I believe are in the hundred dollar range. the rally pegs keep in mind are closer to the two hundred dollar range. this is the email I received back. a few days later.
Unfortunately, we don't have any bigfoot pegs for the KLX. I believe there
had been some talk of making some, but at the same time, we focused on a new
line of pegs (Rally pegs), which are yet to be in production. We have
planned to build some of those for the KLX, but it will be some time before
we have any in production (possibly 2 months). However, the Rally pegs may
be your best bet for aggressive, oversized pegs. They will be a little over
4.5 inches long and around 2.25 inches wide. Check back in about a month or
two and we should have more info on those.
Thanks,
Mario

I see how it is IMS, trying to sell the expensive peg, instead of the one which would have been a more obvious choice. anyways disappointed, and I'm not even convinced that they will even make a rally foot peg at all in "2" months. however they do have 2 choices currently for this model.

I was looking at the Pivot Pegs since many fitments can be lowered for those of us with giraffe DNA. Unfortunately, the PP's for the KLX250s (which are still available btw) - are not lowerable due to the clevis style frame mount.
Here's the message from Pivot Pegz:
Here's the message from Pivot Pegz:
Hi QoS,
Thanks for your inquiry, I've looked into this for you.
A lot of Pivot Pegz can be lowered but unfortunately the design of the footpeg mounts on the 2007 KLX 250 does not allow the Pivot Pegz to be lowered on that bike.
Even if the Pivot Pegz mounts are flipped to the other side of the bike, the design of KLX footpeg mounts means that the Pivot Pegz won't fit correctly.
Sorry we can't be of assistance. It would be great if the Pivot Pegz could be lowered on that bike but unfortunately sometimes it's not possible due to the OEM footpeg mount and frame bracket designs.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Kind Regards,
Allen

Here's another option:
EDIT: Nevermind, they don't offer low height for the stinkin' KLX250s.
