engine revs
 
i just got a 2007 zzr6 with 2,675miles on it and it is revs up to 5-6000 rpm when i start it after it is warmed up and when i am ridding it it will not drop the rpm's like it should and it is a stock bike and i tryed to run carb cleaner and it didnt help and i am on the fourth tank of gas... please need help

Welcome, wander. Start with the basics; throttle linkage, choke, etc. How does it run? Does it bog? If so, I'd guess there's a choke issue. If that doesn't help, try the idle adjustment. If runs rough or hesitates, you may need to clean the carbs. How long did it sit before you bought it?

as mentioned by jeff, a sticky choke, a loose or cracked carb boot, even an out of synch carb rack will cause these issues as well.

Just don't "clunk" the transmission when you put into first gear when cold. Bad outcome with those kind of revs. Make sure it's thoroughly warmed before you lift that left foot... Fix your problem before you do some internal damage.
