Looking at ZZR1200 but not sure its the one to buy
I went and looked at a 2004 ZZR 1200 today. The price is good but there are the things that I noticed.
1. The tach is erratic. It works but the needle jumps around.
2. There seems to be quite a bit of blowby. I took the oil fill cap off with the bike running and there is quite a bit of airflow coming out. There is enough that with the engine idling if I lay the cap back on the fill hole it moves the cap back off.
3. There is an erratic miss that doesn't seem to go away at any rpm. The engine runs pretty smoothly but you can tell it's not firing on all cylinders all of the time.
The bike has 27,000 miles but the current owner has only had it a couple of months and has no service records. The bodywork has been plastic coated blue (just in case someone on the forum is the previous owner).
The bike also has an aftermarket exhaust but I failed to get the brand. Looks like a Yoshimura. The bike has no power commander that the current owner knows of.
I couldn't take the bike for a test ride because it's raining and will be all week but the transmission seemed to engage nicely.
No ticks or rattles.
Anybody got any input?
Thanks,
