starting to do stunts
 

well i just put my bike down and now iam thinking about buying a cage and damper and start learning some stunts anyone think its a good idea and would i need anything else to make my bike better

stunt it up man, i would personally buy a wrecked bike for the purpose of stunting only though.

youll need...

cage
sliders
wheelie kit sprocket chain etc..
to flatten out your gas tank
reinforce your sub frame
reinforce your frame
scrape bar for the rear
misc other items to make it work and depending on the type of stunts your gonna do.

I am with evil in buying a pre-wrecked bike to stunt. For one, the '98 might be hard to find some stuff for, like cages and such. I had a tough time finding a 12 bar for my 2000, so I made one.

You can go to my site http://www.SuperSportbikeLinks.com and go to the stunter section. There are a few sites that specialize in stunt parts and gear, like MXD, Powers, Freestyle, etc. Browse through them and see if you can find a cage for the bike first.

You will need a cage first, then a 12 bar. I still haven't changed out my sprocked...seems people are torn on whether to learn on stock or go to a big sprocket...seen it done both ways. Also make sure you have some decent gear...and I highly recommend a back protector. Got mine off e-bay for $40.

Also, best if you can find an empty lot to practice in...cops don't seem to enjoy stunting on the streets. No humor. Also best if you can get permission. And if at all possable, find other guys in your area who stunt. They can give you the best advice while watching you. Tell ya what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong.

If you go for a totaled bike instead of yours, the fuel injected bikes are the best. 03 636s and F4i's seem to be the best to learn on, and totaled ones can be picked up between $2k and $4k all day long.

And practice, practice, practice. I suck because I never practice!!

thanks for all the good info. I have one more ? for zx636skiv why do u say EFI is better than a carb for stunts just wondering my bike pulls up easier than my friends 04 gsx600r and 04 cbr600rr

all he means by that is a fi bike is better to throw around, ever hit a wheelie and get to about 4th gear and it sputers ? on a fi bike the fuel is constant so you wont have any issues with it. same with a stoppie. kinda the same principal as a rock crawler truck. fi is better when your climbing up a wall. carb go choke pop die.

If you are riding your bike at (or around) the 12 o'clock position, your carbs will be sitting at a 90 degree angle, and will eventually run out of fuel, making the bike stall out. A fuel injected bike will prevent this.

I have seen many pro stunters using non FI bikes and have little or no problems, it's just that is one less thing to go wrong if you have FI.
