Default Burnouts

Although I've had motorcycles for years, I just got my first sport bike. What's the proper way to do a burnout?? I'm not the kind of guy to do anything stupid on a bike, but am curious how it's done.

I don't mean to sound stupid or rude, so if I do, please forgive me, but what exactly is the purpose of a burnout??????? I think it would jsut make you need a new back tire sooner.

just like any other stunt it just looks cool. there is no purpose. but it does shorten the life of your tire

they are fun!!! I practice every night in my garage. I am sure my neighbors love me I don't normally do them at the drag strip because I have only broke traction once and that was on a cold day. I am not putting enough power to the ground to warrant a need for burn outs at the strip. But I am getting damn itchy to upgrade my bike to a ZX14. I want to go faster!
