Heres the scoop. I have a 95 zx6r and can power wheelie like its no bodys business. My problem is trying to clutch it. Can anyone tell me what RPM one should be at to clutch it up. heres some scoop on me, i'm 6'1 and bout 200lbs. obviously its not my weight or height if i can power. I also have a 07 yama FZ6 and have the same problem.

 

you need to be at like 6-8000RPM's and dump the clutch and throttle in at the same time, if you can power a wheelie up you should be able to clutch a wheelie up 3 times easier so take ur time make sure you dont wind up the throttle and give it to much cuz it will come up fast or may spin and lose control. be safe be careful take ur time n you'll get it

 

my 95 doesn't want to wheely at all - but when i bought it i was told that the previous owner had gone +1 tooth on the front to keep the front end down. that and i've never really tried because its just not my thing

 

You should be able to clutch it up no problem! Try it in first gear at 15 mph... fan the clutch at full throttle and it should pull up pretty violently. I am usually at about 9krpm when I let the clutch back out. Don't let the clutch out too fast though, otherwise you'll spin the rear tire. And make sure your tires are warmed up too, otherwise they'll be more likely to spin. And KB, you definately need to change your sprocket back to stock, or even to a -1.

That vid is good to teach you how to clutch it up, but doesn't really help with a ZZR because it doesn't have the power to pull it up like that without a sprocket change. There's an alternative method to get it up. In Second gear, stand on he pegs when you get to about 5kRPM. Whe you hit 7k, use all your weight to compress the front forks, roll on the throttle and pull up on the clip-on's. It'll pull up and you'll be able to walk it as far as you want (with practice)

 

the new ZZR's are the same as my old bike (1998 zx6r). i could wheelie that thing no problem (clutch or power). although i couldn't find the balance point just because i was nervous of looping it. as for doing second gear wheelies, i did exactly what you were saying and it's not bad. although i would feel like i wasn't really in control when i was bouncing it up. i switched to fanning the clutch instead of the bounce and it is ALOT more stable taking off and landing...for me anyway. it does take a little practice i must say. i only use one finger to fan the clutch so you have as much on your bar as u can.

 

I use my two middle fingers on the clutch, and my pinky and forefinger on the bars. That allows me to get the clutch control that I want plus have the stability on the bars.
