Default Fellow Motorcycle Drag Racer Down Today

Happy New Year everyone, I know its been awhile but honestly I think about this forum almost everyday. Just busy lately. Today was kinda tough too. I finally entered my first summit series race. Eliminated in round 1 by my husband. I don't know why it is we always get paired together but anyways that is not even the tough part. In round 2 a fellow drag racer (on a purpose built drag bike), friend and mentor went down. His bike burst into flames about halfway down the track and he grabbed some front brake at about 100 mph because he needed to get off the bike (he was on fire!) well this threw him off the bike he rolled and finally hit the rail. Incredibly he did get up but he was very disoriented (so I am told) he did not even know what day it was. He was rushed to the emergency room. I pray he will be okay. I saw his drag bike and it was toast, burnt toast. Anways, I hope you all ride safe and have a prosperous 2007. I will try to get back into loop again here soon. Take care.

Nice seeing ya again. Good news on walking away for your friend also. A day of recoup time does wonders unless an ankle was broke.

Good news he is out of the hospital. And it looks like his bike is fixable. I do not know when he will be racing again last I heard he has a broken rib. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Everyone that races with him has already managed to get him a new suit, helmet and parts for the bike should be on the way. Luckiliy everthing is all good he just gave us a hell of a scare.

WOW, his bike turned into a fireball, and he came out with a broken rib?[sm=smiley18.gif] and his bike is fixable??
That's amazing. The phrase 'somebody up there must love [him]' comes to mind. It's a good thing to hear, but how are you holding up? I imagine it'd be a bit traumatizing to have that happen, so close to you, and to a friend.

Glad to hear he is ok suprakawigrl, you can always buy another bike, and build it up, cant replace life. That would be scary, to even watch....[&:]
