any pointers for a 1st time drag racer.

the local drag stip opens up this weekend and im wanting to go to the track with my bike. it will be the first time at the track with my bike and im very nervous. is there any pointers that yall can give me. my bike is a 06 zx6r with a 46 rear and 14 front sprocket, yoshi slip-on, and a BMC race filter, and lowered about 2 inches. i have practiced alittle on some back roads and there was only a few times that i really got on it in 1st gear and at the top end of 1st the front end stood up on me and scared the crap out of me. i have short shifted and ran fine, its just at the top end of 1st it likes to come up. is there any way i should possition my body to help with that problem. also what is a good rpm to launch at, im thinking somewere around 5-6k. all comments are welcome good or bad just want to get some pointers about racing the bike.

well i had a better day then i thought i would have. i only had the front wheel stand up on me once, cause i was onlt going half throttle in 1st. and for my first time ever at the track i was running 11.9 at 120MPH very consistantly, thought i wouldve been a little faster but i dont have that much done to the bike. so untill the next time i go after i get my new parts ive got ordered.

I have`nt been to the track either and I went form the ZX6R to the ZX-14 and want to go to but am pretty nervous as this bike is quick. I think for me getting down the track wont be difficult it will be the launch and trying to get a good reaction time so I can feel you there. I think that what to launch at and the 1st gear will be the hardest as well as getting a good reaction time. My 1st time I am going to take it pretty easy untill I get used to it then all hell will break loose. I am finally now comfortable with my bike and am ready to explore the drag strip myself so same thing any advice no your experience or anybodys elses I would appreciate it to.

my good as usual advice: don't fall down and keep the front as low as you can (aka don't flip over) lol

thats a pretty good time for a 1st timer at the track, remember dont go out your 1st time tryin to set goals, get to no the bike power and torque before launching hard and get a good feel of the bike at the same time, remember seat time is your best friend to going fast at the track

also i recomend u getin u a front end lowering strap, this helps out a ton when launching bc it will help keep the front end down
